Smile Makeovers at Beacon Dental
I'm Dr. Hongli Wang from Beacon Dental. I'm going to talk to you about smile makeovers.
What is a smile makeover?
A smile makeover applies to people who are missing teeth or whose teeth shape and color are not desirable. It is also for people with a higher goal who want a beautiful smile for their life. It can be both. Some patients with missing teeth are considered restorative, combined with cosmetic work.
For instance, if a patient is missing a couple of teeth, we need to do a bridge and veneers. The bridge replaces the missing teeth, but the veneers make the teeth look matching and beautiful. It helps the patient restore their function and cosmetic appearance. Most likely, people have a higher desire for their smile, and they also want to restore their teeth with modern technology, which we can improve to make their smile look much better.
What procedures are involved?
The procedure can involve crowns, veneers, and implants, which can be a combination of the three. Normally, I don't consider a denture, but a denture is a cosmetic tool that helps the patient restore their function and cosmetic appearance at the same time. It normally involves prepping the tooth, and sometimes, if an implant is needed, it will be included. Sometimes, if a patient has teeth with big cavities, root canal treatment is a part of the smile makeover. If it's related to surgery, that takes a longer time. If only veneers are involved, it can be two visits.
How do I maintain my smile after a makeover?
Most patients, when we do the smile makeover, we try to keep their teeth individual. Flossing and brushing are necessary to keep the teeth healthy.
